QRMFN Family Program – RDAQ 2019

This year’s QRMFN Family Program provides a range of activities for rural spouses, partners and children, with many opportunities to catch up with old friends and new. QRMFN has planned a number of exciting activities to suit everyone.

Thursday 6 June 2019
16:30-20:30 QRMFN meet & Greet ** children’s dinner and entertainment – Pullman Cairns International RDAQ Opening Plenary and Welcome Reception – Pullman Cairns International
Please note: while children’s activities will be offered, All children must have at least one parent onsite at Pullman Cairns International during this event.
Friday 7 June 2019
9:30-13:00 Children’s workshop ** – Shangri-La hotel QRMFN lunch and AGM – Shangri-La hotel
Relax and enjoy the company of other rural medical spouses and partners while discovering more about QRMFN and contribute to our future directions, as well as hear from an invited guest speaker.

During the AGM your children will be busy having fun participating in the children’s workshops which will entertain a mixed age group.

17:30-20:00 30th Anniversary Celebration ‘Bunker Party’ – the Tanks Cairns
Please note: supervision is NOT provided for this activity. Children MUST be accompanied by a guardian.
Saturday 8 June 2019
8:30-15:15 Day tour – Green Island Eco Adventure Tour
The Adventure Tour includes a choice of snorkelling equipment or glass bottom boat coral viewing and lunch for everyone.
Please note: supervision is NOT provided for this activity. Children MUST be accompanied by a guardian.
18:00-23:45 Children’s Entertainment and Movie Night** – Pullman Cairns International Pre-dinner drinks from 18:30 – Pullman Cairns International
Please note: while children’s activities will be offered, ALL children must have at least one parent onsite at The Pullman International.
19:00-23:45 Or child minding in hotel room
Conditions apply. subject to demand, this service is at the delegates cost.

** denotes adjunct care arrangements for children through local nanny service. All other activities parental/guardian supervision is required.
The QRMFN program is subject to change.

Spouse networking registration inclusions:

  • Complimentary attendance at the conference official opening and key note address.
  • Welcome reception supper and drinks package.
  • 30th Anniversary Celebration ‘Bunker Party’ (including dinner, cash bar).
  • Conference gala dinner and awards ticket (Including pre-dinner drinks, dinner and drinks package)

All other spouse, partner and children’s activities outlined in the QRMFN program are sponsored by QRMFN as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting rural medical families. These activities are free for spouse/partners, and children under the age of 16, some activities may have charges for children aged 16 and over and additional adults accompanying the family.

NB. The spouse networking registration fee does not include attendance at all RDAQ Conference sessions. Spouses who are also medical practitioners wishing to attend all RDAQ Conference sessions are required to pay the full RDAQ delegate registration fee. Associate membership is an option to spouses who are not medical practitioners offering significant discounts.

QRMFN Backbone of the Bush Award

QRMFN is calling for nominations for the 2019 Backbone of the Bush Award! Each year at the David Horn memorial gala dinner and awards, the QRMFN presents the Backbone of the Bush Award to a spouse or partner of a doctor practising in rural Queensland. This award acknowledges and recognises the spouses and partners of rural doctors who achieve outstanding accomplishments in their own right, while simultaneously supporting their doctor partner and the rural communities they’ve come to call home.
